A. No. These territories are a part of the United States. U.S. citizens returning directly from a U.S. territory are not considered to have left the U.S. territory and do not need to present a passport. U.S. territories include the following: Guam, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Swains Island and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

Help our Puerto Rico Satos

What is a sato?  Satos are the names for our many stray lost and homeless dogs that you will see all over the island. 

Several groups on the island along with stateside have set up

programs to unite our satos with loving families back on the mainland.

Marianna Massa who works at the Northeast Animal Shelter in Salem, MA is one such volunteer. Marianna currently is working on rescuing the satos of PRand bringing them over to the mainland for adoption.   

She is especially interested in anyone who is traveling from San Juan to Boston and who would like to take a group of dogs with them.  They only have to carry paperwork for them, all other arrangements are handled by the agency.
